- Do you do this?
Do you do this?
Why not?
“The greatest mark of a father is how he treats his daughter when no one is looking." -Dan Pearce
Do you have frameworks that you follow as a dad? |
One thing that’s always been interesting to me is our(my) lack of ability to self audit.
When is the last time you stopped in your tracks and asked yourself,
“How did I do today?”
“Did I lead by example?”
“Did I represent the man that my daughter will develop her standards from?”
“How can I do better tomorrow?”
I try to be very conscious of my efforts and I still fall short on a weekly basis with this.
Yesterday I was listening to Eric Worre talk about his framework for life and it really stuck a cord with me so I wanted to share it with you.
It’s so damn simple but so powerful.
Plan. Do. Review.
That’s it.
I am so bad at the “plan” part. I am such a go with the flow type of guy.
But that’s a big weakness.
Moving forward I will do better.
Eric said he’s implemented this in every area of his life.
Going on a date with your wife? Plan, do, review.
It sounds so silly to me but it’s not.
Taking your daughter to the park? Plan, do, review.
Plan the trip.
Which park will you go to?
Will it be cold?
Does she need an extra pair of socks?
Once you’ve planned, go do the thing.
Afterwards, review.
Think through what went right and what can go better next time.
She spilled her chocolate milkshake all over herself and you didn’t pack a change of clothes.
Better throw those in the bar next time just in case.
What’s wild is that a simple framework will literally change your life if you take it seriously.
So, take it seriously.
Let me know the results.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
